16 years ago he made a short film with the name "Silent Scresm"and the film bagged National award in the year 1998 and after that he started his career as a director with the film Istam under Usha Kiran Movies Banner starring Shreya and Charan but it was a biggest disaster, And then he moved to Kollywood and made a film Alai with Simbhu and Trisha, Again he failed in receiving the succes through Kollywood. He left his life free for 6 years, His experience in working with Priya Darshan and the National award has not at all helped him, Finally he made a Bilingual film 13B in the year 2009 with madhavan in Tamil and Hindi Languages with a very low budget and the complete movie shot in a small house, Interestingly the movie has became a Blockbuster with the creative concept of Vikram and PC Sree Ram's Cinematography has been a big support for the film.
After that he took a 3 Years gap and made a Blockbuster hit film ISHQ in Telugu with Nithin, This is the film that changed the fate of Nithin Too who is suffering with the serial flops. Vikram just found the talent of Nithin than his track record and he believed on this script which made him a successful director, After that film he didnt hurried in making the bunch of films, He again took an year gap in developing the Script Manam, Approached Nagarjuna and convinced him with the Creative concept, As a result Nagarjuna too bagged a wonderful career in his career who is starving for success since several years.
